What’s New in dcTrack 9.1
The following features are new or enhanced in dcTrack 9.1 for an easy, fast, and complete second-generation DCIM solution.
Improved Visualization for Blade Chassis
dcTrack 9.1 brings an upgraded visualization feature that offers more precise and realistic modeling for larger blade chassis and those with asymmetrical slot arrangement. Rack elevation diagrams now display the chassis and its slots, incorporating true-to-scale images of blades within the chassis. This enhancement streamlines users' ability to view all rack contents in one place, facilitating improved planning and quicker troubleshooting.
Enhanced Asset Management
The latest release enhances the popular custom fields feature by introducing custom fields specifically for locations and models. These customizable fields play a key role in automating data entry and can be searched, filtered, sorted, and utilized in reports, offering an enhanced ability to monitor metadata that bolsters both energy and operational efficiency.
New standard sub-status fields provide more robust support for customers' distinct workflow processes and facilitate seamless integration with other systems. These fields can be employed without any limitations based on dcTrack's business logic, and they can be automated through APIs and business rules.
Enhanced support for barcode scanning has significantly accelerated and simplified the adjustments of parts stock and the lookup of circuits using barcoded patch cords or circuit IDs. During asset audits that involve barcode or QR code scanning and adding items, users can now incorporate a secondary field for increased flexibility.
The parts management module now incorporates properties for field management (e.g., required, unique, hidden, and default values) pertaining to both parts and part models. This allows for superior customization and control over the data users' see and work with.
Complete Power Circuit Management
In dcTrack 9.1, facility item management receives a significant upgrade through the addition of asset management capabilities and real power readings for rack UPSs, rack transfer switches, rack inverters, and rack rectifiers. These newly introduced objects seamlessly integrate with Sunbird's enterprise-class polling engine, providing accurate measured readings.
Support for 100/200 volt electric panels extends the solution to more international customers, allowing them to accurately monitor and manage their power circuits.
A user-managed floor PDU, inclusive of its panels, breakers, and power outlets, can now be connected to the virtual power circuit. This advancement enables colocation tenants without direct visibility to the UPS to effectively manage their power circuit, extending control up to the floor PDU.
Enhanced Cooling Capacity Management
In this latest release, cooling capacity management is improved with the incorporation of an additional derating factor to account for the aging of cooling units. Cooling units can be assigned to multiple zones, simplifying the process of creating and allocating units to zones, and providing a clearer understanding of the total zone capacity.
Effortless Automation via Integration
More streamlined automation is achieved through enhancements to the ServiceNow and universal CMDB connectors, expanded ODBC views, and improved syslog configurations. These advances facilitate easier integration, reduce manual effort, and enhance data accuracy.
Improvements to the ServiceNow and universal CMDB connectors, expanded ODBC views, and syslog configuration enhancements enable easier integration to reduce manual effort and improve data accuracy.
Even Easier to Use
Several features have been added to enhance the overall user experience of the software. This includes the introduction of an exportable list of users and permissions, along with the capability to set permissions on multiple objects in bulk through the GUI.
The execution of business rules during the addition or removal of item relationships has been introduced to boost automation.
Additional functionalities such as world map drilldown, cable grade picklist options for fiber optic cables, and automatic refreshing of the asset list following bulk edit operations empower users to accomplish routine tasks with less mouse movement and fewer clicks.
And Much More!
